According to the Bureau of Occupational Health and Injury Prevention, in the Hudson Valley an estimated 50,000 children will be treated for traumatic injuries this year at local hospital emergency rooms. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the leading causes of death and disability in young children. TBI, in many cases, can be greatly reduced through simple safety measures, like the proper use of bicycle helmets and car seats.
