CDF Announces 2023 Grants

CDF is pleased to announce the 2023 grant awards to the following organizations:

Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center – toward the purchase of a Specialized VOCSN Multifunctional Ventilator that integrates five devices into one: ventilator, oxygen concentrator, cough assist, suction, and nebulizer.

Mercy University, School of Nursing – toward the purchase of numerous items for their pediatric simulation lab needed to train students and first-line responders for skills acquisition and mastery as related to pediatric care. Items included a Pediatric Drager Evita XL Ventilator with NeoFlow, The Kangaroo Joey Enteral Feeding Pump, and a Shiley Pediatric Tracheostomy Tubes in two sizes.

New York Medical College – to purchase Laerdal Newborn and Adolescent Task Trainers, including (1) Baby Touch Vital Signs Simulator, (1) Newborn Anne Simulator, (4) Newborn Injection Training Arms, and (2) Diagnostic and Procedural Ear Trainer w- Pneumatic Otoscopy Kits so that learners and providers can confidently achieve/maintain mastery of essential pediatric emergency care clinical skills.

Putnam Hospital – to fund their Infant Safe Sleep Program to improve infant safety by providing every baby born at Putnam Hospital in 2024 a free custom Omni Swaddle Sack and safe sleep educational materials for her newborn.

St. John’s Riverside Hospital – to purchase a Laerdal Portable Tablet for their mannequin, which will allow them to teach a greater number of residents, attendings, nurses, and students as well as to run hospital-wide mock pediatric codes, incorporating various departments and two Pediatric Foreign Body Balloon Extractors.

Westchester Community College’s School of Health Careers, Technology, and Applied Learning  – toward the purchase of a Laerdal SimJunior Dark Plus Accessories to be used to educate and train healthcare providers and emergency responders in their programs.

Westchester Community Health Center (formerly MVNHC) – to purchase medical equipment for two examining rooms at one of their new school-based health centers (SBHC) in a school in Mount Vernon. This SBHC will provide primary and preventative care in a convenient, comfortable environment, increasing interventional access, decreasing absenteeism and behavioral problems, and minimizing poor educational outcomes for at-risk, underserved, and economically challenged children in Mount Vernon.
