CDF Announces 2021 Grants

CDF is pleased to announce our 2021 grant awards to the following organizations:

New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York – CDF purchased an infant and adolescent lumbar puncture/epidural task trainer and a pediatric vascular access trainer. Both would aid in providing high fidelity to support medical learners and first-line responders in their education of pediatric emergency care.  Each year upwards of 800 students at NYMC will be trained in anesthesiology and or/emergency medicine.

Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Centers in Mount Vernon, NY – CDF helped the Center hire a Community Outreach Worker who will work within the neighboring community to raise vaccination rates for children. During COVID, many children have skipped their necessary routine care. The Outreach Worker will play a vital role in making sure that children stay up-to-date on their healthcare including encouraging them to be vaccinated with soon-to-be-available COVID-19 shots.

St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, New York – CDF purchased a pediatric GlideScope for the St. John’s Riverside Emergency Department. The GlideScope serves as a lifesaving tool to protect a patient’s airway during critical situations. During the current COVID pandemic, the GlideScope is recommended as the first line intubating method by the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
