CDF has announced their 2014 grant awards to area hospitals and healthcare centers. This year’s grant recipients include:
- Greenburgh Health Center in Greenburgh, NY. Our grant will implement a Pediatric Well Baby Visit Pilot Program to encourage parents to come for well visits and inoculations rather than come on an emergency basis. The funds will be used to purchase car seats and install a phone reminder system. Special emphasis will be placed on educating parents about asthma and obesity.
- Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY. CDF will fund the purchase of a pediatric simulation manikin, Sim Junior. Sim Junior is a realistic six year old interactive simulator designed to train for life threatening emergencies. It would be in their training center which serves the area including paramedics, EMTs, police and fire departments.
- Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor, NY. Our grant will fund the purchase of an ultrasound machine for their Pediatric Emergency Room. The machine will be used to aid the placement of central lines in children. The use of point of care ultrasound is growing rapidly in pediatric emergency medicine.
