
Dr. Small is a past chairman of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Sports Medicine and is active in creating national policy regarding children and sports. He has been named Sports Medicine Best Doctor in New York Magazine and Westchester Magazine for the past 5 years since 2007. He has given thousands of lectures at national and international meetings over the past ten years and has been featured in The New York Times and network television. He is the author of the book “Kids and Sports” published by Newmarket Press. In addition he has authored over 50 book chapters and scientific articles on such topics as ACL injuries, throwing injuries, sports concussion, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, overuse injuries, and muscle cramps.
Dr. Small is a Clinical Assistant Professor in three departments of Pediatrics, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC. He is also on staff at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, NY. He is a member of Westchester Health Associates.
Dr. Small lives in Westchester with his wife. He has four sons, ages 19, 18, 15 and 13, all involved in various sports activities. Dr. Small eats, lives and breathes Pediatric Sports Medicine 24 hours a day whether in the office, on the athletic field or at home.
