Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps (CVAC) is a volunteer ambulance organization based in Chappaqua, NY and staffed entirely by volunteers.
CVAC offers several classes to help the community, especially to aid children in emergency situations. Classes include free training for medical emergencies to help new parents, babysitters, teachers and more; CPR and First Aid Training classes including infant CPR; and a Stop the Bleed (STB) class to recognize life threatening bleeding and learn how to stop it.
There is an Adult Corps program as well as a thriving Youth Corps program where they are training the high school teens of today to take care of their community members. Adult members begin as Aiders, riding on live ambulance calls, assisting with patient care and transport. After gaining some experience and taking necessary training classes, Aiders can become drivers and EMTs. The Youth Corps program is for high school students who live in New Castle. Youth Corps members ride on live ambulance calls, assisting with patient care and transport. Youth Corps members also conduct weekly “rig checks” to check equipment and restock supplies.
